We spent over two hours reminiscing about past employees and the fun times we have all had working together. Felipe was on our staff for seventeen years, from the early seventies through the late eighties. Felipe did mainly preparation but could and did lend a hand almost anywhere. He would even answer the phone in the mornings when the receptionist could not get in. He could do any job in the kitchen and would even help me out in the dish department when we were short handed there.

Felipe and Rose are now retired and live in Florida but get back to New England at least once a year and are always in touch with us. There are literally hundreds of stories just like this one of present and past employees. This is truly what has kept me inspired and challenged for the forty-two years I have been operating the Pillar House. So, if you don't see me in the dining rooms you can be assured that I am in the "back of the house" with the staff.
