Trefethen Wine Dinner

It is time to revisit the wonderful wines produced by a historical estate from the southern part of Napa Valley, Trefethen Vineyards. Eugine Trefethen founded the estate in 1968 on the grounds of the old Eschol winery, an impressive all-wooden structure dating back to 1886. The winery began to initially sell grapes to other wineries in Napa but shortly thereafter decided to produce their own magic with the fruit of their land. In 1973 the first vintage of Trefethen came to life with the help of Eugine's son John Trefethen. This started a successful journey that has brought the winery to the forefront of Napa Valley's best producers of fine wine. Today, John Trefethen and his wife Janet still run the family business, which is especially known for its brilliant Chardonnay.

While certainly enjoyable while young, this wine can improve dramatically after it has aged several years in bottle. This is something that most Californian wineries do not easily accomplish. The Chardonnay, both the "young" and the "aged" version together with several other Trefethen wines will be presented on the night of the Trefethen Wine Dinner at Pillar House. As usual, the menu for that evening has been especially created by our chef to complement each individual wine. This exciting event is going to take place on October 26th in one of our private dining rooms. A representative of Trefethen Vineyards will host the evening while providing an interesting commentary on the featured wines. The evening will begin with a traditional reception at 6:30, followed by a sit-down dinner at 7:00. The cost of $67.65 per person includes the tax and the gratuity. Please call (617) 969-6500 for reservation and remember that the space is limited.
